Hybridizing Animation with live Action.

This video from “kaptainkristian” shows some of the techniques used in Rodger Rabbit to create believable interactions.

1. Eyeline is crucial to creating believable interactions.

2. Physical interaction really sells that these characters are existing in the same space.

3. keeping the camera stationery is the surest way to avoid letting the animated character feeling disconnected.

However, Roger Rabbit is shot like a normal film, with normal camera movements. This doubled the work load, but made for much better and more interesting shots. An entire motion feature of still shots would just feel stale.
